What being a Mompreneur has taught me so far:
Updated: Apr 4, 2022
Being a mom is the most rewarding thing I have ever experienced. However, trying to balance motherhood with entrepreneurship has been a challenge.
Both have taught me some important lessons including patience, compassion, and tenacity just to name a few. This mom is constantly thinking about her child’s wellbeing. Is he getting enough nourishment? Did he sleep enough? What can help make the tummy ache go away? Am I being a “good enough” mom? How can I grow my business without dropping all the other balls?
Despite all these worries, I have been polishing my time-management skills. For example, I could run a load of laundry while feeding or playing with the baby, and pump milk or fold clothes while he napped.
It is not picture perfect
I often compared myself to other moms and entrepreneurs seen on social media. Because of this, I developed unrealistic expectations for myself. My mind kept telling me “your family should look like this” or “your business should look like that.” But nothing is ever perfect, and it is unhealthy to compare your whole real life to the highlight reel that most people display online. I AM a great mom. I AM an evolving entrepreneur, and I strive to get better at both each and every day.

There are obstacles in both motherhood and entrepreneurship, as well. Both my child and my business are young, so they both demand lots of care and attention, and at times it can feel overwhelming. Sometimes I ask myself “what the heck are you doing?” being a mom and a business owner at the same time, but…
Tenacity!
One thing about motherhood is you can never give up. However, I got distracted so many times from my business and considered quitting. Ultimately, my business is also my baby, and I have found the same determination to nurture it.
And what does this mean for YOU?
First, do NOT compare yourself with others. Everyone's journey is different, so what works for someone else may not necessarily work for you. Be inspired but find your OWN path.
Secondly, STOP feeling guilty. You are exactly where you should be, and you only have to answer to yourself. That is the reason you became an entrepreneur in the first place, right?
Last and most importantly, NEVER GIVE UP! Nothing worthwhile comes easy, and your persistence will eventually pay off.
Now...go get it, ladies!
